AMPIN Energy Transition Enters Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy Segment
India’s renewable energy sector is entering a new phase where the focus is no longer limited to generating clean electricity but also ensuring that it is available whenever consumers need it. As renewable energy capacity continues to expand across the country, maintaining a stable and dependable power supply has become equally important.
This is driving greater interest in Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE), a model that combines renewable generation with energy storage to provide assured power during scheduled hours.
Marking a significant step in this direction, AMPIN Energy Transition has entered the FDRE segment with the signing of a long-term Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for its first 199 MW / approximately 800 MWh project under Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) Tranche VII.
What is Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy?
Renewable power generation naturally depends on weather conditions.
Solar plants generate electricity during daylight hours, while wind generation varies with wind speeds. FDRE addresses this challenge by integrating renewable energy assets with Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
The stored energy can then be supplied during pre-defined peak demand periods or when renewable generation is unavailable.
This approach enables renewable energy to serve applications that require greater reliability without depending solely on conventional sources. As India's electricity demand grows, dispatchable renewable power is expected to play an increasingly important role in supporting grid stability and improving energy availability.
AMPIN Energy Transition's First FDRE Project
The newly signed PPA covers a 199 MW FDRE project integrated with an approximately 800 MWh battery energy storage system.
With this agreement, it will be looking to develop renewable energy assets capable of supplying around 800 MWh of assured peak power every day through a long-term contractual framework with SECI. The project was secured under SECI's Tranche VII tender at a tariff of Rs 6.28 per kWh and carries a 25-year PPA.
This marks AMPIN Energy Transition's first dedicated FDRE asset and represents a natural progression of its diversified renewable energy business, which already spans solar, wind, hybrid projects, energy storage, manufacturing, and energy trading.
Strengthening Reliable Renewable Power
The transition toward dispatchable renewable energy is particularly relevant for sectors where uninterrupted electricity is essential. Industrial facilities, utilities, and power distribution companies increasingly require renewable energy that aligns with consumption patterns rather than generation patterns.
By combining renewable generation with storage, this project is designed to supply electricity even during non-solar hours.
This capability supports better grid balancing while reducing dependence on fossil fuel-based peaking power.
Expanding the Energy Transition Portfolio
The milestone further strengthens AMPIN Energy Transition's commitment to advancing next-generation renewable infrastructure and reinforces its role in enabling a resilient, reliable, and future-ready power ecosystem.
AMPIN Energy Transition has steadily built capabilities across multiple segments of the renewable energy ecosystem. Along with utility-scale projects and commercial & industrial solutions, the company has expanded into energy trading, solar cell and module manufacturing, storage, and emerging energy technologies.
Its entry into FDRE reflects this broader strategy of offering green energy solutions that address both sustainability and operational reliability. Rather than focusing only on power generation, the company continues to strengthen every part of the renewable energy value chain.
Supporting India's Renewable Energy Future
India's clean energy journey requires renewable power that is not only affordable but also dependable. Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy is emerging as a critical solution for meeting this requirement by integrating storage with renewable generation.
As projects like AMPIN Energy Transition's move toward implementation, they will contribute to a more resilient electricity system capable of delivering renewable power during periods of high demand. Combined with technologies such as the wind solar hybrid system, battery storage, and advanced energy management, FDRE represents the next stage in India's energy transition.
With its first FDRE project now underway, AMPIN Energy Transition continues to expand its role in building a more reliable, flexible, and future-ready renewable energy ecosystem for the country.
