Profile Introduction

Wildland fire can be very dangerous. On average 10 firefighters die each year while working.

There are numerous non-profits that help families of firefighters injured or killed in the line of duty.

If you are able, these two are excellent places to donate money that will go to good use and help you, your family, or a crew member after tragedy strikes.

About me

Here I am on my first day of chainsaw training about two weeks into starting my wildland fire job in California. I was exhilarated but scared to death about trying to operate a saw. I look like a goober.
THAT WAS IT! THOSE FEW SENTENCES SEPARATED ME FROM A HUNDRED OTHER APPLICANTS AND GOT ME THE JOB. IF A 5-FOOT-TALL, 26 YEAR-OLD WOMAN CAN GET A POSITION AND START HER WILDLAND CAREER, SO CAN YOU! I HOPE THIS WEBSITE GIVES YOU ALL THE INFORMATION AND A STARTING POINT TO BECOME A WILDLAND FIREFIGHTER.
